Where are you moving back to?

Re: Where are you moving back to?
For me, it will probably be Lancashire. Possibly around Bolton, for access to jobs in Manchester and hills north of Manchester. Kendal or other towns in the Lake District would be fun, but for computer jobs it may have to be Manchester.
Any comments on Bolton, good or bad, would be helpful!

Re: Where are you moving back to?
I'm moving back to the place I was born and grew up in - Central London. My parents still live there. Westminster/Pimlico/Victoria area. At least I might be able to walk to work (hoping I get a job fairly quickly) if it's in the City, Victoria or West End........

Been thinking about Lyme Regis, Poole or Bournemouth areas. Anyone got any information as to what it's like to live there?

Not sure about living down there but I have always really liked the area, places like Corfe Castle, Wareham etc are just beautiful.

Lyme Regis is lovely, lots of great walking, crafts shops, cheese and wine, local foods.

Re: Where are you moving back to?
Its changing all the time, but we are thinking more and more about starting off in Bromley, London/Kent borders. Jobwise we think it would be wise to be close to London, in the beginning at least. So we've looked at schools, rental prices and travel costs, and all considered, Bromley looks good. Also, we know the area fairly well although we've never lived there before. Would never be able to buy there, though. My daughter will be 7 when we move next year. I've been researching schools and overall the Primary Schools there are good. Hopefully we will be properly settled somewhere in the countryside within commutable distance from London, by the time she goes to Secondary school! This is all so very stressful, not knowing where we're going to end up living.

I'm originally from Bristol but when I move back (3 weeks time) I'm headed to Purley, Surrey because thats where my best friend lives. Spent 2 weeks there in April and liked what I saw. When the kid is done with school (4 more years) then I'll explore other options. I did live in islington, London prior to moving to the states and i loved it but that was 23 years ago. Not sure if I'd want to live in a big city again. I'm ready for the quiet life. LOL!!

Re: Where are you moving back to?
My maternal grandparents retired to live in a commuter type village called Wellington Heath, which is two miles north east of the beautiful market town of Ledbury, Herefordshire, which is where my grandfather originally came from, having been born there. They had previously lived in Denmark and Germany for some years.
I occasionally go down there to see them and Ledbury and the rest of Herefordshire really is lovely. Ledbury is a lively little place with plenty going on there, including a Poetry Festival which draws in poets and writers from all over the world, and also the Big Chill Festival, a sort of up-market Glastonbury, which takes polace each year in the grounds of nearby Eastnor Castle - this year's Festival starts on 03 August.
It is Sir Edward Elgar country, and Ledbury was the birthplace of the poets John Masefield and Elizabeth Barrett-Browning, and formerly the home of the American poet Robert Frost, and the writer W H Auden was married in the register office in Church Lane, Ledbury, in 1935 - very much a marriage of convenience, for obvious reasons. Ledbury people choose to forget that it is also the home area of the infamous Fred West, who also got married in the same Ledbury register office in 1962. Nowadays Ledbury is the home area of Monty Don (TV gardener) and Richard Hammond (Top Gear).
Ledbury is home to Europe's largest Cider Mill.
This clip shows the former UK politician Michael Portillo starting off on one of his Great British Train Journeys BBC2 TV programs in which Ledbury was the starting off point for the five stages railway trip up to Holyhead, Anglesey, North Wales.
From Ledbury train station you can catch trains travelling direct to Birmingham New Street (1 hour 10 minutes) and London Paddington (2 hours 35 minutes).

That happened to me when my dad died aged 73, he seemed so very old. I'm now that age and the baby of our family.
