Schools in UK usually start the first Monday/Tuesday in September. You'd need to check the website of whichever council area you are planning to live in.
Allocations usually take place in March/April for places in September so you'd need to apply for late/casual admission depending on the age of your child/ren and just be aware you might not get the school you want at this late stage. Give your prospective local council's admissions dept a call.
Take a look at www.ofsted.gov.uk
and
www.findmyschool.co.uk
Read between the lines with the Ofsted reports though and don't get too hung up on the grades. Of course if the school has been graded with loads of 4's then
