Removal of Fraud responsibilities from DHS to Police controlled units with necessary powers to ban illegal recipients from non contributory benefits for a period of not less than 10 years.
Staffing for this appellant action trained - unlike the pathetic Child Support teams.
Removal of state benefits to single mothers/fathers as an automatic right.
Housing benefit ditto.
Limiting period of receipt of Invalidity Benefit - automatic inclusion to a return to work period during the invalidity period, preparing recipients to support themselves immediately this benefit expires.
Redefining DLA recipients to exclude ex junkies/alcoholics and ne'er do wells who cant be bothered to try and support themselves as they couldn't earn as much if they worked blah blah.
Means testing for free transport to pensioners.
Means testing for Child benefit.
Means testing for any non contributory benefit.
The Benefits Agency would immediately "lose" 70% staffing ...retraining for said staff.
Civics classes to all children from K to 18yrs.
Naturalisation instruction and requirement for all potential citizens including a requirement for Language competency.

Part of the negativity in the UK stems from poor education, low expectations in almost every area of life, a belief that people are owed something by society and government. Dishonesty at both ends of society and a middle section that finds itself paying for both one way or another.

Loose the socialism, loose the nannying and increase both peoples independence and sense of self worth.
Australia has all of those problems too, thanks to the governments insistence on giving away taxpayers hard earnt money to people who don't deserve it. I couldn't agree more on most of the points you have made their though in relation to welfare.

I do however think some people who are genuinely unable to work should be able to obtain disability support allowance without a time limit, so long as they remain genuinely unable to work. A medical test might be needed on a regular basis to support this in some cases.

So which parts are so shocking and why?

Add to this -

NHS Treatment
1 year waiting period for any British passport holders who have been out of the UK for one full tax year/have not paid income tax in the last full tax year.

1 year waiting period for any EU citizen before qualifying for NHS treatment based one one year period Income tax qualifier.

1 year waiting period for any non emergency treatment for non UK/EU patients - based on one year period Income tax qualifier. Non payment of lower level of IT will result in exclusion of any adult.

All of these measures would stop the flow of the UK's resources flowing into areas where people have done nothing to contribute to the UK's exchequer.

And using the same logic, would you get one year free NHS treatment after you die?

I'm working on it - couple of applications sent in recently, plus one or two promising jobs just came up. I'm focusing on just dealing with living here and not spending my days dwelling on maybe's and what if's ...

Alright Kate.

When can I set up that interview for you with the UK's equivalent to Katie Couric?

Gender is about all that makes Katie Couric and Fiona similar. Fiona is an airhead. Couric may be slightly irritating but I would consider her a semi serious journo.

No thanks! I certainly wouldn't want all the scumbag aussie criminals I deal with every day to be sent to live in Britain. It really would become a hellhole very fast indeed if that happened.

I meant return me from whence I came for being bad, Australia can keep it's own. They should extradite me for foul mouthing the country and refusing to believe in the Aussie dream.

Oh well in that case I agree. They can send me back too. I'm constantly degrading Australias schools, pubs, tourist facilities, hot Christmasses etc.

All of these are surely deportation offences, or should be!

yep, they should definitely send us back or a "try it and if you don't like it get your money back to go home", I do feel like I was robbed all that money on the visa. Not that I could get more bitter and twisted, than I already am.
