what airline would you recomend?
Hi, I am going to travel back to the UK soon and was wondering what airlines people who have done it recently would recomend.
Any other info would be appreciated to, like meals, entertainment.
Thanks

It may be useful to indicate your current location in order for folk to be able to suggest good flights back to the UK. But I have found the following website to be quite helpful as a general guide:

All the best

Generally you would select on quality or price. There is another factor which is that if there is a problem in the UK - weather or so on then a domestic carrier will get priority - BA / Virgin. I've seen this when transiting via BK where there were three floghts leving for London at midnight (don't ask me how they do that). Thai and another were cancelled due to bad weather and the BA flew!
I suppose it works the other way round too.
Worth thinking about.

We went back for a holiday in June and flew with Singapore. I can't fault them and would highly recommend.

I am guessing you are in Australia so I would personally recomend JAL (Japan Airlines) I always opt for them if there is a choice.

From Australia use Qantas - avoid BA.
I thought JAL went bankrupt - or was it that they were taken over by one of the American airlines recently?
If you want cheap then people do talk about Air Asia - they used to talk about Garuda being the cheapest but I am not sure whether Garuda planes have replaced their elastic bands and are still in the air these days LOL

Malaysian were a bit stingy on the drinks and a 5 hour wait for your connection sitting in KUL airport is not fun.
My sister says Singapore Airlines are good, one friend recommends Emirates, another says Virgin were rubbish!!
I think it all depends on the personal experience you have had on the day. I am flying with Etihad in February, anybody had any experience with them?

I get on the plane at Sydney, stressed out as you are, and the trolley dolly came around with a tray of beer and orange juice, as because obviously women don't drink. And the beer is for the men.
I asked for a glass of wine instead and you would have thought I was some kind of headcase the way she looked at me!!
"Wine? You want a glass of wine?"
"Yes love, that's what I paid my 2 grand for!!"

Just avoid Air NZ. I am just telling you the truth - not exaggerate. the worst airline meals I've ever experienced was Air NZ, seriously - wasn't eatable. and the aircraft is old too - terrible noise when landing. Qantas is way better. I like Qantas. Hate Air NZ. The service they offer - from baggage to foods - makes me very upset each time. to be honest I am unpleasant traveling with Air NZ though I've got no other choice.
I like Qantas, Korean Air, Asiana Airline, Singapre Airline and British Airways.
JAL went bankrupt ovbiously - read about the news a few days ago (both in Korean & Japanese.)

In no particular order after 20 + years of flying that route: BA, Virgin, Air NZ, Singapore, any and all foreign airlines. Ensure you make the US carriers your choice of last resort I have flown 95% of them and they all never fail to deliver poor service, expensive drinks, no frills, oh and you have to treat the flight attendants as if they are God or Godesses, sometimes I cannot quite make the distinction
Ba Humbug I know but that is my honest assessment. The US carriers just do not seem to be able to do International flights with any finesse. Maybe they used to? And if you happen to travel as a vulgarian and don't like kids avoid Virgin as it is the package, freebie give away airline and always full of the little darlings, bless them. I blame the parents who somehow seem to think purchasing an airline ticket means they are absolved of all parental responsibility upon entering an aircraft

A flight from Australia to Uk is never going to be pleasant on any airline, I make my decision based on legroom and perhaps the entertainment system. I don't really care what they give me to eat.

The food is an issue for kids, though. They gave away my sons' pre-booked meals to others and had almost nothing to give them instead. If I hadn't taken extra foods in a cooler bag, it would have been even more unpleasant for everyone - a hungry young child is no fun.
