We're heading back to Ivybridge in Devon, all originally based on sdunx recommendations! So if it's crap mate....you are so in it!!! We started investigating the area and it looked lovely. Then we looked at schools and couldn't believe the high standards, especially the high school, it's fantastic. Then we looked at houses and were pleasantly surprised at the value for money at the moment. So, major thanks go out to you Stu for giving us the 'heads up' about this lovely place! :D

As for buying the house, we have eyes and ears on the ground in the area, and then there's the in laws who went and viewed the house armed with a camera and fresh batteries. They called us and gave us a full commentary, ten million photos were whizzed through cyber space, Google Earth was examined thoroughly, and offers began to fly around. Now that's a done deal.

And, today I booked the flights home. The amount of times I've walked past The Flight Centre in Lakeside wishing I could go in there and book to get us all out of here and today I did it. It felt bloody good I can tell you! We leave at 4.30pm on 9th October

I seriously cannot believe that after 4 years of being here it's almost over.

I know Ivybridge! I remember it well when I lived in Torquay and sometimes visited.

Is your hubby OK about it all now?

God I can't believe you are finally going back after all this time. Have you got plans to get straight back into work?

I still miss Devon, although Torquay had changed big time when I went back in December - I still miss it though and still have some of my Devonshire accent.

don't keep telling everyone how good it is otherwise everyone will want to move here and I haven't bought a house yet.

So by the way everyone don't believe Tracy she's exaggerating - it's pants here - honest

Our house went unconditional last week so we decided to buy a house back home instead of rent (because rentals weren't coming up, the ones that did wouldn't take cats, and they're very silly money). Also, because of the market back there we thought we'd try and grab a bargain......and we did ;):D

For everyone else still trying to sell, keep your chins up, it'll happen even though at times you feel it won't. Look at me: 4 years, a gallon of tears and indecision, 6 months of trying to sell the house, and now it's almost my turn to get out of here and go back to where I belong. Never thought it would happen, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong.

Here's a piccie of the view out the back! Sheer heaven! The stream is at the bottom of the garden.

Im really pleased things are moving for you, Tracy - and hope that when you get back its everything you ever dreamed it would be:)

What a turn around for my hubby in the space of a few months  He's started his studying for his plumbing course (he's re-training for his C & G) and he's feeling good about that, it's really lifted him as he hates his job here. He now sees some really good prospects for himself back home.

He's looking forward to a new challenge in his job and he can't wait to get stuck into this new house, which needs dragging into the 21st Century. He loves doing D.I.Y, and he hasn't done that much here because the house was brand spanking new, so no challenge.

He actually said to me the other day that he was ready for a change of life. He admits that it's too easy to get complacent here and to just plod along.

So, it's all very good on the husband front!

Oh, and yes, I will be looking for teaching supply work asap whilst hubby plays house-husband and carries on with his training.

Yes best to tell it how it is ;) was quite uneventful in Ivybridge today, only 2 gangland slayings outside Lawtons hardware shop and one boatload of illegals intercepted by police in the Erme river after a tip off from John the butcher, they'll be put in the detention centre which has been quickly assembled behind the Smithy pub beer garden.

I originally went into the Flight Centre a few weeks ago for a quote and they priced flights through Royal Brunei for 4 of us at $4400ish. I went onine a few days ago and looked at Malaysian airlines and got a price for $3400 and great flight times to: take off 4.30pm, 1.5hrs in KL, then land at Heathrow at 6.00am!! So I printed it off, took it into the Flight Centre and they beat the price by $20 each!!! Thank goodness I booked it when I did because Malaysian air are hiking their fuel prices up a lot in two/three days. So if you want a bargain....get in quick!
