Weeks vs months

Holy crap!!!

I have a few things in the works in preparation for my moving back to Normalville (UK!) and I discovered something this morning that made me shat a little bit.

I am aiming for a permanent return on or around Feb 5th-ish, and I had been counting in months how long that is. A little over 6 months. Then, I was bored this morning, so for fun, I counted it in weeks. 27!!!!!!!!!! When I say it like that, it's not long at all! Now I'm all excited and even more panicky as I have a lot to do and not really much time to do it in!

Luckily, I have started the doggy's PETS stuff, so that's the thing that'll take the most time, and I have begun to get my financial affairs taken care of, but there are lots of other little things here and there to sort, and it's a little scary! For the last few weekends, I have been putting off filtering through things I would take with me so I can send them to mum's by mail beforehand. I don't know where to start!

A couple of weeks ago, all this felt like a weird dream and wasn't real, but now that the ball is officially rolling, it's a wake-up call to get my arse in gear! Just hoping we won't have any storms this season. That'd piss me off a lot! Please let my last bit of time here be peaceful and uneventful!

Can totally relate. We started the process of going home for a year last November. I'm dillying dallying along, getting cats in order, getting house taken care of so OH doesn't have anything to do next year, getting bank account, cleaning out my office, etc., when he suddenly says yesterday, "you've got seven weeks!!!!" Holy c**p. I couldn't sleep last night thinking of everything that still needs to be done -- eye test, SOMEWHERE TO LIVE!!!!!, paying off that last credit card, losing 20 pounds (hmmm). All of a sudden there's no time. Plus, now he wants me to start the PETS process on our dog just in case he decides to move over with me earlier (which is lovely, but omigod). Where did the time all go?

I really feel for you with the house, having read some of your other posts. I hope you sell soon and manage to get back ASAP.

Three weeks for me now! Not able to count in months anymore. Can't believe it! Sad about leaving my husband though as he is staying with the pets until December. Can't believe that I will be starting a teaching job in just over 4 weeks.

Congratulations. It'll be so exciting for you. I understand about your husband though; I'm leaving mine for a year and got very weepy with him yesterday. Hate the thought of leaving him, but hopefully the time will go fast.

Good luck with the pets.
