We ve gone and done it!

Just had to post this to make it seem more real. Have been up and down here over the last 6 years and finally hubby agreed to give UK a go. Anyway as soon as he was sure, i was unsure - typical female i guess. Anyway, tried not to think too much about it (sort of turning a blind eye to it while hubby sorted things out) and put our home on the market, it sold first day so we're off to UK in 8 weeks time :scared: I pray i am doing the right thing, but feel happier with the fact we got a good price for our home here so wont have to live somewhere we didnt want to back home

Good luck on your return, where are you going back to,is it the same area that you left?
Can I ask,are you returning because of missing family? or just missing the U.K.
How good was that, selling your house the first day on the market !!!!!!
must be an omen, that you were meant to return.

I'm from N.Ireland originally but met my husband in Lancashire, that's where all the family are so thats where were heading :scared: Not really the place I miss, mostly family now that i have a young family of my own.

How great that you sold the house on the first day.
I hope everything else goes as smoothly for your move back to the Uk.

We too are off back to UK in 10 weeks. Apart from speaking our own language again, it's mainly because now that we have a little girl we really do miss family, she is so excited that we are moving home. Am very nervous too. Good luck to you and your family.
x :)

I think the suffering and deliberation over a big decision like 'returning home' is healthy because it means you're not going into it lightly.

We're flying back in 6 weeks and boy time is flying but I can't wait :)

I suppose like us the next big hurdle is exchanging your ozzie dollars. We're hedging with Ozforex at the moment and my eyes have almost changed shape what with watching the exchange rate the last couple of weeks.

Well done and best of luck.

Re: We ve gone and done it!

Thanks for all the words of support. It was one of the hardest decisions i have ever had to make yet, not just for me and hubby but because you always want what is best for your children. Hopefully having all the aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and great parents will make up for the lovely outdoors lifestyles and wide open spaces, at least we have citzenship so always have the choice to return, or least the kids will - i am hoping once i get back i never want to leave again (except for hols :p ) because it causes so much turmoil, well for me anyway!

IN terms of exchange rate, i cant believe the difference a day makes, we may just change a bit intitally until we find a place to live then fingers crossed we change on a good day!!

Yep, we are in Perth, not really comparable to blackburn in terms of weather :D But I have stored up 6 years of hot weather here so i am hoping i dont mind the cold too much  My 3 yr old says its OK, we can wear gloves and a scarf all day :D

Lets hope that you will not be doing the yo-yo thing later ( like us ).
England - Canada - England and hopefully back to Canada soon.
It cost a lot of money. You will notice that England you left 6 years ago is not the same.
Good luck with your move.

I've been back twice and noticed a change each time, but i never left england because i had a problem with it, i loved my life there, i left because i met someone who was moving there, not sure it was the right thing but whats done is done and hopefully this will be our final move
