Good on you! Wishing you the very best of luck!

By the way, "northerner" means anyone who lives north of the river. And by "river" I mean the Thames.

I actually own a Geordie dictionary, sent to me by a former BE member from the area.

For some reason, there is no Sarf London dictionary.

Recognise this place at all? Taken yesterday...
Indeed I do,went frequently as a child, and often as an adult. My favourite castle

OP, good luck with doing whatever it is & likely your visit over will make it more clear for you.

Novo, what about you providing some assitance to Largo when she is over?

.
I taught at Bolam St. Junior School, in Byker 1954-57, then emigrated to Canada. Contrary to what some might think, it was a rewarding experience and I enjoyed being there.

Ouch! I'd much prefer tuning in to "Vera" for a look at the coast

And "southerner" means anyone south of the Tyne ( refer to Ross Noble) . Personally I come from Ponteland - once a proud Northumbrian village but almost a suburb of the Toon now.
But I digress - I am thinking of coming back to UK to retire after living in OZ since 1974. (Why you might ask..).
Anyway - how long do I have to be in UK to be classed as resident for pension purposes and does anyone know the conditions for that?

If you mean State Pension, you don't have to be resident at all, just old enough. When you get back just update your address and banking details with DWP.

I didn't realise it would be so simple - thanks for the advice. Now the difficult bit of leaving OZ!
