what visa options do they have and how soon should they apply? He's from NZ. Many thanks

Re: Visa help

- When his current visa expires he could apply for Ancestry visa if he is eligible:

https://www.gov.uk/ancestry-visa

- He could apply for a settlement visa as husband of British citizen if they can meet the financial requirements:

Financial requirements:

hi, thanks for your advice. The ancestors visa is a no go. He would have done that if possible.
He is already in the UK and in full time employment and before his visa runs out in December 2019 he will be married.
What visa and when to apply and has anyone been in this situation and applied for another visa from the UK?

Re: Visa help

He should apply for a spouse visa (FLR(M)) as soon as they’re married. Any time spent on a Tier 5 is time wasted as it won’t count towards ILR.

Thank you, is that the one they can pay for priority for and actually book an appointment and get the visa there and then?

They won’t get the visa - the BRP will be sent by post a few days later - but they will usually get a decision.
