Venting
Just need to vent.
Just over 7 weeks left until I go back to the UK. The job I moved for fell through (grrr), so now I'm stuck with nothing to do all day in a town where I only know one person & don't drive so I'm worse off than I was working part time in a tiny town! Went to the local library to see if I could volunteer there and I'm putting in an application but it looks unlikely as they do a background check and she said it often took a few weeks.
We live and learn but oh god, I'm going to be seriously bored for the next 7 weeks :/ And then I have the fun of job hunting when I get back to the UK

Re: Venting
Damn nonrefundable tickets and it would be tricky to change them (guess that's what you get when you book cheapo tickets though) .
I guess though you're right, I should start my prep. for job hunting in the UK as I'll be in a new area and be able to job hunt in Derbyshire, Birmingham and Nottingham quite easily.

Good luck Elli, I hope you can find something to occupy your time, it must be pretty frustrating having that ticket home, but can't leave!

Just fork out the extra to change the ticket and go back early? Worth a look-see at least.

Re: Venting
We just went through a spate of bill collectors calling for some other M. MyLastName that I was just ignoring but DH couldn't bear it anymore, picks up the phone and starts yelling at this person that he's just come home from work and found his elderly mother in law on the floor, where she'd fallen out of her wheelchair trying to get to the phone and they'd better not call here one more time... he's pretty amusing when he gets wound up. I'll be by the end of the call even HE believed there was an old lady on the floor.
He thinks he made the caller cry, but I know they're tougher than that...

Thing is the female calling had this posh British accent.
Anyone here want to own up?

Re: Venting
I like the idea of sleeping until noon and then drinking until I pass out.. unfortunately I'm giving up smoking at the moment so am off the booze as well.
That's pretty damn funny about the phone things. How odd about the T-mobile but I'd heard that the Brits were favoured by some collections agencies because the accent gets peoples' attention over here.
