Here's another UK site I came across.

It's a UK govt. site with a complete section on Britons returning to live in the UK....with a checklist on whom to notify/register with, education, healthcare, passports, taking pets into the UK, registering to vote (important to do this as the credit rating agencies in the UK eg. Experian, Equifax etc. check the electoral roll to see if you're on it and lenders use this when deciding to allow you any credit - even then they often like you to have been registered on the electoral roll for six months) and importing a car to the UK:

I had a spare min and a bit bored and figured most people wouldn't bother, so I stuck most of the info in the wiki, the formatting is a bit ugly so someone might want to make it look a bit prettier and there's a few links missing as I couldn't be bothered with creating new catagories such as the job hunting and professional organisations, though that was a bit chunk of info by JAJ.

Useful U.K Links

After talking to Beth in this forum about her situation, I thought I would start a thread for those that are in need of urgent assistance to get back to the UK - for whatever reason.

Please feel free to post useful links to this.

Here are some links that I have found.

www.womensaid.org.uk

www.shelter.org.uk

www.crisis.org.uk

www.direct.gov.uk

www.dwp.gov.uk

www.housingcare.org

www.ych.org.uk

Please add anything that has either helped you or that you may feel could be useful to others.

I am amazed at the strength of some of the people on here, Ruby and Beth to name but two - not to mention the many others that have battled against the odds to better themselves or 'escape' a situation.

Anything that can help - benefits, disabled assistance, accommodation, temp agency links (decent ones that you have had experience with) - these could all help someone in a bad situation.

:)
==========================================
More links, added from Sam's thread:
If you have pets and experience domestic violence,
http://www.refuge.org.uk/page_l1-2_l2-2456_.htm

For Scotland with links at the end.

======================================
Edited by Pollyana to add - there is a thread on this subject HERE so please add to the discussion there. Just wanted to add this post to the Useful thread :)
