Default US nurse reworking for the NHS?

Quick background.
I'm a British / US citizen married to a US citizen living in N Florida.
We moved here in 1999 from the UK.
My wife had previously lived in the UK 1992-1999 when we moved to Florida.
She worked as a nurse on a Cardiac Intensive care unit for the NHS.
She never completed the whole 'leave to remain' process whilst there. Moved back to the US before it was finalized.
She did have a UK nursing licence whilst there.
Family, 1 child about to start grad school. here in the States.

We have been recently discussing moving back to the UK and the questions it brings up.
Would her UK nursing licence still be valid, would it be a simple process for her to even move the the UK? I assume she would have to restart the whole immigration process.
Is there any sort of scheme for foreign nurses as there was in the early 90's? She had no problems getting a work permit back then.

Just some thoughts, any advice appreciated.

Hi Expomea. Your wife would need to apply to be readmitted to the Register, see here https://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/...-requirements/

Your wife would need to apply for a spouse visa. Unfortunately the process has changed a lot since she last lived in the UK. Very briefly, you as your wife's sponsor must either have a job in the UK earning a minimum of £18,600 per annum, or you and/or your wife must have cash savings of at least £62,500 (or its equivalent in foreign currency). Other forms of income (eg from pensions, property rental etc) can be used although the rules for combining different sources of income are a bit more complex.

She would need to apply for a total of 3 visas over 5 years before reaching Indefinite Leave to Remain, and could apply for citizenship after that.

She would also need to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge, currently £400 per annum, for the 5 years she'll be on the spouse visa.

For your son/daughter to be on your wife's application as a dependent they'd need to be under 18.

If you have any questions regarding the spouse visa, best to post them on our UK Immi sub-forum here https://britishexpats.com/forum/citi...-visas-uk-196/

I agree, especially as there's no more to pay (ie no co-pays for GP and specialist/consultant appointments, or hospital stays and treatment). When I moved to the UK from Australia I was reaching for my purse as I left the doctor's office for years, couldn't get used to it!

By the way, I found something for you relating to temporary registration measures for nurses due to covid-19, but I'm not sure if it applies to your wife. Here's the link, just in case https://www.nmc.org.uk/news/coronavi...-registration/

So she contacted them via email.
Presently surprised, 125 UK pounds and a proof that she has been working in the field recently and they will reactivate her licence.
