Default UK employment over 50

I'm a highly experienced technical sales professional. I'm 51 years old and hoping to move back from California to the UK before I'm 55.

When I do the occasional search on UK job sites there seems to be a requirement for my skills. However I was wondering if my age will count against me, or instead, will my global experience and errr..."maturity" be seen as an advantage.

Any opinion welcome. Thanks.

Ageism is everywhere. Quite many hiring managers dislike ever hiring anyone younger than themselves (though they will never admit it, even to themselves).

Best tactic is to line up the job in advance, or better yet get with a California company that has sales offices in Britain and work towards an intra-company transfer.
