You can complain here. In many years, I've only had one run in with border control and that was quite a few years ago.

Just being curious, I would love to know the details! I have come in four times now in recent years, even with my non eu spouse and the IO has always been pleasant, sometimes asking a couple of questions from my busband but never making us uncomfortable.

When I was posted to Heathrow I spent five years working alongside the immigration officers in what was then T1 and T2. Very occasionally I helped out in T3 and T4. The only people on EU passports I saw get anything like a hard time were those who stood in front of the IO talking on their phone.

There was a guy in T1 who assumed I was an IO, and having waited for longer than normal to present his passport, walked up to me punched me in the shoulder and told me to open another f****** booth. He felt he was abused but I put it down to his shock finding out I wasn't an IO, and that I was not amused at being assaulted.

The details of this encounter would be interesting to hear.

I've never encountered abuse at immigration control (UK & elsewhere). Some in-depth questioning, often.

I've been more often surprised at how easy it is to breeze through *without* checks on entering the UK.

The last couple of times I have entered the Uk I haven't even had to deal with a human. Just straight Into an unmanned booth, scan the passport, take a pic, and on your way all in under a minute.

I could have said a lot more but... Thank christ for troll filters.

For those that provided links thx but they're more for pursuing a civil suit which is the easy part as opposed to finding information on being well informed and knowing ones rights when dealing with abusing border agents.

If we had a wee bit more info on the abuse suffered, it might be a little easier to provide relevant info on recourse. ...

Were you denied entry? Detained? ? ?

Good luck. I'm guessing that you will have an uphill struggle unless you recorded the incident or have very good independant witnesses who are willing to get involved.

It wouldn't though because I'm not asking for advice on how to make a complaint or how to file a lawsuit therefore what took place hasn't anything to do with what I'm requesting here. Except that it is the impetuous that is made me determined to be a great deal more educated on my rights when crossing the border into this country.

And after the idiot trolling of a few here I'm even less interested in making what took place public - as is often said don't feed the trolls.

If you truly want to know some of what the border agency has subjected people to just google it. There's an all too common trend in what's written about them - they severely abuse people. Considering their position and responsibility there is absolutely no excuse for professional misconduct such as the abuse and insults I was subjected to, have been told about and have read over and over - no exceptions.

I really can't find anything on this thread remotely similar to "idiot trolling". Rather you have a lot of posters who are confused because their experiences in mo way match yours, therefore they are at a loss on how to help without fruther info! ( myself included)
Were you falsely imprisoned? Refused entry? Merely had the micky taken out of you? Was it a lawful refusal of entry or an unlawful one? Did they make discriminatory comments? What happened could well have a bearing on where people can point you for help.
As for google, yeah, their are a lot of links to stories from papers like the Daily fail where you get half the facts if you're lucky, and a lot of people weeping and wailing and then loving the money they get for their story.
i can't imagine why border staff would consider refusing a British citizen entry on a UK passport, and thats a comment from a witch not a troll. i am genuinely puzzled

Thx. I do have a witness. Another traveller approached me after we were out of the border control area and I go their contact details. I also suspect that all verbal communications and most likely video of everyone that approaches border control kiosks is recorded (after all this is the UK, everythings on CCTV here) so there should be a record of his diatribe.
