Default Transfer Canadian RRSP to UK ?

Does anyone know know if it is possible to transfer a Canadian RRSP and or pension fund to an equivilent UK fund? As I recall it could have been possible the othe other way, which fortunately we didn't do because of the relatively lousey exchange rate for the almost 4 years that we've been in Canada.

Don't know where you were in the last four years, the GBP CAD hit low $2.30s in 2007, not too shabby by any standards. In fact the first half of 07 was pretty good, it just went downhill from there on in.

If you withdraw an RRSP tax is withheld at source. You can claim an adjustment on your next tax return.

When I first arrived 4 years ago it was about 2.35 but by the time house was sold it had dropped below 2.00 where is has stayed for more than half the time that we have been in Canada. 2.30+ blip was relatively short term which I missed due to work commitments

What I really want to do is get the RRSP back into the UK without paying tax at source and/or affecting the current years contributions. It appears possible to convert UK Pensions to RRSP without too much hassle but I can't find anything about the reverse.
