Tor query with pet
A few years ago I returned to the UK from Canada for a few months but ended up coming back to Canada. Four years later, I can't settle and am ready to return to the UK again. Last time, I flew to Paris with my pets in cargo and took them into the UK via the Chunnel, thereby avoiding the extortionate DEFRA fees. But this time around, it will be just my dog returning with me and I see the new TOR form needs him to be included. This time, he's flying in the cabin with me, to Paris again, but I'm not sure how to complete the TOR for him. Do I need to mention him at all as he'll be entering the UK from an EU country? Has anyone done this?

Hi, I’m in the process of moving back to the UK from Switzerland with my pets, and have to add them to my ToR. It doesn’t matter from where he will be entering, you need to declare him on your ToR to ensure he enters the country legally. Make sure he has also been wormed at least 24 hours before entering the UK, occhinococus specifically, and that he enters within 5 days of you, the other conditions are the same as France so I’m sure you have that covered. |
Re: Tor query with pet
Thanks for your post and I understand that you will need to include your pet on the TOR because you're entering the UK from outside of the EU. "The ToR1 has replaced the following forms: ... Import and export: bringing your pet to the UK from outside the European Community (C5)" But my understanding is that as my dog is entering the UK from within the EU, ergo a pet passport should suffice. When I did this route a few years ago, I remember presenting the C5 and it was waved away: not needed because he was entering the UK from within the EU. Is there anyone who has done this or a similar route, i.e. flown from outside the EU to the EU and then schlepped across to the UK?

Re: Tor query with pet
You sound like your move is a lot more advanced than mine - I'm still waiting on a house sale. When are you planning to enter the UK?
