Tor query with pet

A few years ago I returned to the UK from Canada for a few months but ended up coming back to Canada. Four years later, I can't settle and am ready to return to the UK again. Last time, I flew to Paris with my pets in cargo and took them into the UK via the Chunnel, thereby avoiding the extortionate DEFRA fees. But this time around, it will be just my dog returning with me and I see the new TOR form needs him to be included. This time, he's flying in the cabin with me, to Paris again, but I'm not sure how to complete the TOR for him. Do I need to mention him at all as he'll be entering the UK from an EU country? Has anyone done this?

Thanks for your post and I understand that you will need to include your pet on the TOR because you're entering the UK from outside of the EU. "The ToR1 has replaced the following forms: ... Import and export: bringing your pet to the UK from outside the European Community (C5)" But my understanding is that as my dog is entering the UK from within the EU, ergo a pet passport should suffice. When I did this route a few years ago, I remember presenting the C5 and it was waved away: not needed because he was entering the UK from within the EU. Is there anyone who has done this or a similar route, i.e. flown from outside the EU to the EU and then schlepped across to the UK?

That includes pets, the actual point of entry of the pets has no bearing on this. The pet passport will be enough to enter probably, but then what? He will be undeclared in the country.

You sound like your move is a lot more advanced than mine - I'm still waiting on a house sale. When are you planning to enter the UK?

Iâ€™m going next week with the children so that we are there for school starting, my husband will drive the pets over a couple of weeks after that! So yes pretty advanced but feels like Iâ€™m a million miles away!! Iâ€™m pretty sure we wonâ€™t need the URN to get the pets into the country, however, we would be lying on the form and could get into trouble at a later date if we donâ€™t declare them. Itâ€™s a pretty simple process and insures things are done properly, I prefer to be safe than sorry, but itâ€™s your decision at the end of the day.
