Default TOR outside 12-month exemption

I entered the UK under a spouse visa in late 2017. I did not know you could only bring goods duty-free within 12 months of arriving. I want to bring my goods next fall which will put it about 22 months later... or 10 months outside the 12-month limit.
I am putting together an application for an exemption from the 12-month rule.. Explaining (a) I did not know and (b) I left my things behind for a while to help out a young relative (true.)
Has anyone else faced this situation or do you know of similar cases?
Do you know what the outcome was?
Any predictions on what our outcome might be?
Or suggestions to improve our odds of approval?
Thx, E
