Tier 2 to Tier 5

Dear all,

I am currently having my full time using tier 2 general visa, but i would like to switch my career in UK, if so i need to take up internship/placement using tier 5 from the company, does anyone know if this is possible? as I have heard before that it is not possible to go to lower tiers.

You can do but you would no longer have a path to ILR. How long have you been in the UK on your Tier 2 General visa?

I have been using tier 5 YMS for first 2 years, then switch to tier 2 for 1 year now. But I hope I could switch my career so its better to start with internship again as Tier 5. I wonder if I could apply for it?

The answer is NO - you can only apply for a Tier 5 visa once. Please see UK immigration rule 245ZK subsection g -

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigrat...stem#pt6ayouth

(g) The applicant must not previously have spent time in the UK as a Working Holidaymaker or a Tier 5 (Youth Mobility Scheme) Temporary Migrant

Your best option is to stay in the UK until you have Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) before changing your career.
