Thinking of Returning to U.K. from Canada

Re: Thinking of Returning to U.K. from Canada
I have no control on the intelligence or common sense of people posting here, but have always maintained that a wise man learns from the mistakes of others, a fool from his own, some people are just destined to make their own mistakes, that is beyond my control.
I have studied how people got wealthy and lived meaningful lives, those I have emulated, nothing that i observe in an over populated Island being buried by crushing Socialism, political correctness, waves of individuals determined not to adopt the country's life style gives me great hope for the U.K.
Too many people here fail to accept that the U.K is a third rate power whose reputation is based upon its' past rather than its' future.
Rule Britania, Rule What??
Hell, you can't even make it to the Euro Cup, what a pack of losers.
$CDN now $1.97. NOT $2.50, and getting stronger, can 1 for 1 be far away???

I agree with you that political correctness has gone too far and I hope that there is a shift in the UK in the not too distant future, however you can't tell me there is no political correctness in Canada either !
As for "1 CDN = 1 GBP" - I can't see that happening, especially as Canada unfortunately has a strong history of Boom and Bust.
As for Football (Soccer) ... c'mon, you know our recent failings are a sign of our modesty, as we just want to give someone else a chance of the limelight for a change.....by the way will you be putting a bet on Canada qualifying for the 2010 Football (Soccer) World Cup ?

The UK is a 3rd rate power?
At least it doesn't depend on just one country for 80% of it's trade or depend on high commodity prices to make money. Remember if the price of Oil slipped below the level it was a few years back, goodbye Alberta Boom.
The UK has a higher income per capita than Canada, and doesn't just come from natural resources,it actually has to sell things abroad. Something it actually does quite well.
If being a 3rd rate power depended on sporting achievement, then Canada would be a 10th rate power, unless you are a curling fan

UK a third rate power? what a load of bollocks!
London is the financial capital of the World... has lots of power and influence and a sh*t load more than 'Bay Street'...'Bay what?' I hear you asking....

This rubbish barely makes sense. Come on Howard. We've got some poor deluded fool here thinking they might actually be happier in the UK. Make them see the error of these evil thoughts. Friends, family, job prospects etc...we know none of that matters when you've got a pair of snow-shoes, a fishing rod and a positive, "can do" attitude like you.

It really must be that, secretly, you too wish you were somewhere else on occasion. Because if that's not the reason, then you clearly are posting what you do because you are a nasty piece of work, who just likes to wind people up.

Hi Dewdrop,
Thanks for your reply, I hope you and your family manage to get over as well! The way I see it is that you can replace cars and houses, but you can never replace the relationship you have with your family and that's why I think it's important to go back.
Int.

I too have a canadian husband and we are wanting to move back to the UK with our 3 children. We live in Ontario. Sounds like we have a few simularities.
I wonder the same feelings for my husband,(homesick etc) but he is willing to move & I figure we will be doing the same things...raising the children, etc etc Just the jobs will be different. Just the timing now for us.
Feel like we seen and done all we can do here, but missing England and the extended family, cousins etc.for my children...something I missed growing up in Canada. There's more to life than just the bigger house, 2 cars iykwim!!
Hope you get there

So when do you reckon the Argentinians will be invading the Maldives again Howard?
However, you must be a wise man as you're learning from someone else's mistake

Give him a break on this one JG. I sort of provoked him so it's probably my fault. Sorry about that. I just felt like rattling his cage. Besides, he's harmless enough, and worth a few laughs.
