Hey guys
I am in full time employment in the UK.
My company has a legal entity in UAE and is willing to sponsor my visa etc.
I wanted to know the tax implications upon my return the the UK. For the income I received in local currency in UAE while being employed there, will I have to pay the tax on that if i decide to come back?
I am aware the year of travelling, if i qualify for split year tax treatment, that could be used. Other than that - is there a minimum period of time I must be a non-UK tax resident before returning?
Any information would be greatly appreciated thanks!

I am not aware of any minimum number of years that you have to live abroad to avoid taxes on your foreign income. When I did it I moved to the USA and immediately stopped paying UK taxes. As you say, that first year is a split year and if I had been receiving income from my US employer before I left then that portion would have been subject to UK tax. I was expecting a 2 to 3 year assignment when I left but ended up staying much longer.
