Been watching it on tv, you've been hotter than we have down here... only thing is we'll still be frying in mid October while you'll be enjoying "fall".

Re: Still trying to sell my house in Florida
I have sympathy for people who have got into genuine difficulties, none for those who borrowed huge amounts in order to show off 24/7 and then just default. The latter is a specific English family I know, what they have done is wrong in my book but it's not illegal so I'm not going to fret about it.

It's all dependent on who writes the articles and what info they have at the time.
If you're not in a hurry, then it might be worth it to hold off on selling for another few months.

[QUOTE=paranoidandroid;8800898]This was in June,
True, the link to the article is June, but look on the right hand side and you'll note the more recent discussions on the current housing situation...ie)
http://www.businessinsider.com/15-si...k.net#yui-main
Unless the unemployment situation changes, then its only a downward spiral for the house prices, which is why I'm trying to sell the house now rather than next year, when the unemployment forecast is even more gloomy - esp in Florida...

GeeandTee, believe me as soon as I am able to I'm getting out of here. I have been here 22 years and have regrets for staying so long but regretting things does me no darned good. I will still be bound to this godforsaken state with house can't sell but I am off to see bigger and better things! Not UK yet unfortunately. I really hope things are going well for you in UK..

That's a good idea about the consultants. I'll see what's around.

Re: Still trying to sell my house in Florida
Nah, I'm a City Planner so there's no point in applying for a planning job given the proposed public sector cutbacks and the fact that most of the jobs being advertised are short-term contracts. Besides which, after my experience in AZ, I don't really want to work in local government again. I'm sooo done with jumped up local politicians.

Tricky situation Jeeves
I am heavily into shares (stocks) and they could go down 10% next week. I have some good ones with great dividends so I just look at them out of curiosity but really they will get liquidated in 10 years if I am still alive. If I am not then chuffin hard cheddar to the beneficiaries.
Houses are the same except if you don't live in em they are a pain and expensive and who wants tenants.
If you live in your house and can wait - then WAIT
In 1995 I lost my really big job - all the Directors were fired and headquarters moved to the Netherlands.
I spent 12 months at home and wrote 750 job applications
My house was on the market for 18 months with not one enquiry even though I reduced it 3 times.
We heard all the usual - jobless recovery - employment will never be the same - houses are for nesting and not investing from now on and forever
18 months later - massive boom - employers calling me begging me to work for them - people fighting to buy the house and threatening to sue me as i said they could have it (I didn't)
It all changes in 3 weeks and so if you can hang on - do
There is massive cash on the sidelines and when they think they are missing it out, the house recovery will be a tidal wave as it ALWAYS is...
