Still confused: Settlement visa etc

Reading the ‘Foreign Spouse’ thread and the various acronyms and time frames, I’m still a bit confused.

I realise a person must have 3yrs residency before an app for citizenship can be made (I think), but I’m confused about the following.

If my wife enters the UK on a 2 year Settlement Visa, can she apply for ILR after one year of being there, or would she have to wait until the 2yrs is nearly up before applying. I’m seeing conflicting things regarding this. Also someone mentioned a ‘Spousal Visa’ (which I assume is a Settlement Visa) and something called an FLR?

She would have to wait the 2 years. For detailed UK immigration questions you might be better off visiting http://www.immigrationboards.com
