Spouse Visa Requirement

Today, as I am reading the info on getting my husband's spouse visa, it says this:
You’ll need to have your fingerprints and photograph (known as ‘biometric information’) taken at a visa application centre as part of your application.

I had not heard of this before; is this correct?

I am looking at the "Apply to Join Family living permanently in the UK"

Thanks,

Chris

Well, as it says that on the gov.uk website describing the restrictions, requirements, and process to obtain a visa to join family in the UK, I think you can draw your own conclusion. ;)

I think the 'Biometrics' are a good thing, many countries have them before they issue a 'resident' visa or 'resident card'.

At the point of getting the 'spouse of a settled person' visa, the applicant has to hand over their passport to have a visa placed in it

Then there is the e-Passport which is said to have 'biometrics' included.
