Sim for UK vacation
 

I just had my Samsung Infuse unlocked by AT&T

Next week i'll be over in the UK for a three week vacation. (Also going to Paris for a long weekend but..shhhh...wife doesn't know yet.)

Can anyone advise me how to get a sim that will provide voice and data? Can I even get one without a UK address? Usage in France is not as important as the UK.

I got a pay as you go sim easily last year when I visited for four weeks. I did not get data though but may try this time. Got mine in the supermarket for 99p I think and of course put money on it as I needed. I have kept it going so I can use it this year.

Thanks...so you simply buy the sim and then put money on it then pay for the calls at whatever the rate is?

If I remember correctly, they give you a card and you present that each time you need minutes, pay the money and the minutes are credited to your phone. Mine is Tmobile and I have since registered online and put some money on it from time to time as I did not want to lose the number. It is all very easy!

I'm using a dongle with a "3' sim which you can get a recharge voucher for pretty much anywhere. 15 quid gives you 3g of data.

Then I use skype thru the laptop and can keep in touch with overseas either for "free" ptp or at cost of local call.
