Shipping Toronto to UK - Few furniture pieces
Hey expats!
Has anyone had any luck shipping just a few items of furniture from Canada to the UK? I'm wondering if this a feasible option in any way.
We have a nice sofa and a really cool antique trunk that I'd like to bring home with us, but everything else that we own isn't special, so I'm happy to sell/donate most of our furniture. We're moving apartment stuff back around Christmas time, although my husband will be in Canada for a few months longer while we wait out the 6 month financial requirement for his visa sponsorship ()
I think it probably makes sense just to start from scratch, but if we could do a part-container for around $1500 might be worth it...let me know if anyone has any ideas!
Many thanks!

Maybe too big to fit in a standard UK home in any case....

My advice would be to get quotes for shipping from a few companies (you can email them or call them with a list for a ball park price or get them to come and do an in home visit) and compare that with the cost of buying new when you arrive then evaluate the cost alongside of your sentimental attachment and the hassle of buying new.

Re: Shipping Toronto to UK - Few furniture pieces
I chose to get rid of all I owned. I did not think I had anything worth shipping
Now it is gone I wish I had thought about it a little longer, because some of my furniture I really liked.
One thing I have promised myself when I get home is that I will not own so much junk!!!!
Only essentials
I hope!

We're planning on heading back to blighty in June and open to sharing our container...we def won;t be filling it all plus helps reduce the cost of shipping for all
