Most tasks have been completed and I'm heading back to the UK at the end of the month. The dog is sorted apart from a final vet check next week.
My items are being picked up next week for shipping, but I'm not sure whether to use the shipper's insurance offer or insure independently. Nothing is that valuable, more sentimental, but it seems prudent to take out some insurance. Any useful suggestions?

Thank you, Pollyana and.ianandhelena. I've been packing and stacking all day. I'll take a look at Letton Percival this weekend. I've done the packing and I want to see what the terms are. I'm not concerned about my packing. It won't be easy to destroy the contents in my boxes!

Having moved our household UK-US, US-UK and UK-US, I have never bothered with insurance *duh!) - not that you should follow... . The rationale was that the quotes were often more than the intrinsic value of the goods (given wear and tear) and often had to be done by professional packers/movers. Clearly any $/personal values we took with us as luggage (managed to take a trunk (4'x2'x2') as hold luggage on United for just $100).
