Returning to UK from Canada (Shipping)
 

Hi, we are now moving back to UK for second time around. Government won't let us extend visa any more so back we go. Have a house and business registered in Canada but family is a big pull and we are starting new (again!) in Scotland.

Anybody know of any good shipping companies in Toronto to ship to Scotland or Liverpool? It would only be a cubic metre, nothing big. Looking for a decent or reliable shipping company is a bit tricky in Toronto.

Try the MI group, I believe they are all the way across Canada. Their agents in the UK are Anglo Pacific which have an office in Glasgow.

We used them in September and have no complaints -not the cheapest, but then we did have a 40ft container and absolutely no breakages or damage to our goods.

I'm also going to be moving back this year, I'm hoping everything will fit in a 20ft container. My OH was trying to get a quote from a contact he has through work but they don't have an agents in Northern Ireland so as of today we're also looking for shippers in the Toronto area.

Have the bill around somewhere, but off the top of my head Red Deer, Ab to Tiptree UK (packing and unloading included) was about $13,000. I had an additional 100 pounds to pay this end as the goods arrived 5 days before we moved into our rental, they therefore had to be kept at the docks for this time.

Just found the quote actually, and it seems we only used a 20ft container(seems more as we have stuff coming out of our ears here). Basic price was $10,200 and there was the insurance which took it to the total of just under $13,000.

I just got a quote from MI group (as recommended by Polarbearmum) to ship a 20ft container from Toronto to Northern Ireland. They quoted $10,800.00. This was only an email quote I haven't actually spoken to them and given them full details yet and the quote doesn't include insurance.

We moved from the Ottawa Valley, Ontario and our goods were shipped to Dover, England.
Costs in 2005 for 40 ft container were $9050 plus $1100 insurance.
We used Tippet Richards and found them very good.

Yeap, rang them on a Monday, quote given Wednesday, packed following Wednesday, collected Thursday and beds Friday am ,we flew Friday pm! There services was impecable.
