Muppet
And what about the unemployed and others on benefits? Do they just watch the wallpaper while others with more money watch the BBC? Many people will be priced out of watching tv in the Uk if the licence fee keeps going up.

It's funny though, the amount of people I know who seem to be buried under mountains of debt, and have trouble paying bills, but still somehow managed to cough up $50 or more a month for cable or satellite.

Those who are unemployed should pay more for their licence as they have more opportunity to watch TV. Perhaps if it was expensive enough they might be motivated to go out and get a job. Then perhaps there could be a means tested fee for those in low income jobs, or on benefits for other reasons.

Exactly, for too long we've subsidised day-time TV for the poor and undeserving. It's about time that they paid back their debt to society by appearing on demeaning TV programs for our own amusement. Prime-time TV should be filled with programs that show poor, ugly and uneducated people trying to pass their driving test for the 57th time, attempting to redecorate their hovel, making futile attempts to make themselves look attractive to the opposite sex, showing their complete lack of talent and general making a fool of themselves by trying to sing a famous song and, oh, we've already seen that. Peasant shooting, anyone?
