Are you getting divorced? If you are separated you should see a lawyer about getting the finances you own jointly with your husband.

If you like where you live could you not stay and use your state pension to live on ask yourself why do you have to come home? I would talk to a solicitor about the joint bills etc, if you don't have money for a solicitor is there not a Cit. Advice Centre you could call in to or Phone?

I would love to stay here, but the state pension is not enough to live on, unlike the UK in Fance if you have paid nothing into the system you cant get any help with anything, everything is so expensive here. We don't have things like CAB here and advocates cost a fortune.

Thanks for the reply

France to me sounds like a lot of other countries, mostly good weather, great food, nice countryside...sounds ideal until you actually live there...Good old Blighty without some of those things but people still want to come back and because of our great Welfare system they will put up with what they don't like. Go to a solicitor and pay them to see what you are entitled to from your husband etc. Good luck there is nothing worse than living somewhere when you really want to be somewhere else.

This might or might not help but there are lots of house sitting jobs going in France whereby you look after the house plus any pets for 2 weeks- upwards of 6 months. You will not have to pay any rent or utilities, only your food. Might just give you some time to rethink things.

I am presently in the same situation and have just returned to Spain after 11 weeks in the UK moving round from one relative/friend to another. I am so lucky in the support I have but you cannot put on people for ever. I went to the citizens advice and was told that as I jointly owned a property in Spain and had investments the only thing I would be entitled to was 25% off the council tax. None of this helped me as my husband had disappeared which meant I had nothing but my state pension. Eventually I contacted him and he moved out to be with his new girlfriend and I moved back in. It is hard as it is our 39th wedding anniversary today and I have had to sort out so many things here, I am still expecting my electric to be cut off as he has moved the direct debits then moved them back again and now I have to try and sort it out with the various companies. I haven't driven here before but have now bought a small car and need to practice. There is no legal aid any more in the UK, all that is available is a crisis loan which you have to pay back. You can get free healthcare from the day you arrive. I have friends who moved back the week before me with nothing but a car and 3 dogs. They have had help but to be housed they found a private bungalow to rent, had a crisis loan for the deposit and first months rent which they have to pay back at £10 month and is now getting pension credits to live on. Believe me if you have done anything to help yourself you won't get help from any of the authorities, I was given a list of rooms to rent by the housing dept. and was told to try but be aware that a lot of the places were no more than drug dens. I wish you luck and hope that you can find a solution.

My goodness, so o you have to stay there, until the place sells or is repossessed, can you afford to pay the bills, I can't on my state pension.
I really feel for you, could you not do what your friends have done and find somewhere to rent in the uk. Will you get anything out of tne sale of your property. After all those years surly he has to give you a larger share as he has somewhere to live. PM me

Sorry to hear of your health problem. Just to ask, why are you seeing a Notaire? For the joint-ownership question? You need an Avocat to represent you in Court.
AFAIK no one on the France forum looks in the Moving back to the UK forum. Can you repost your update on the France forum?

Best of luck. Hope you will be able to get some medical help for your dizziness. :)
