Returning to the UK

Greetings good people......... Born in England (1949), I turned 6 on the Edinburgh Castle, traveling en-route to Union of South Africa. I arrived on my mom's British passport (Dorothy Mary Wesson). Been here ever since but as my family has all very much dispersed around the globe, I would like to return to the UK. Please advise the procedures required.
Thanks and kind regards.......... Uschi

Re: Returning to the UK

As said in other threads, if you are a Brit citizen, with a British passport, there is no procedure for returning to the UK, you just get on a plane.

You obviously need to have accommodation for your arrival, and money to support yourself (as you are 70 I doubt you are going to find a job).

You will need to register with a General practitioner in order to receive NHS services (no charge).

What are your resources for living in the UK? - you say you have some family and friends.......

Relocating from South Africa to UK..accompanied by Husband

To whom it may concern........ writing to request your assistance with my plan to relocate to UK (from South Africa). Traveling with my husband (South African passport holder)...... what are the criteria for my husband........ I understand from assistance received here that I require my British Passport and an air ticket to finalize plus, of course, a place to reside in UK.

Also, could you kindly direct me to platforms where I can find out about old age facilities in the UK?

And finally, I assume that UK, means Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Island - is that correct?

Born in England (1949), in Shearsby, Leicester, Turned 6 on the Edinburgh Castle, traveling en-route to Union of South Africa. Been here ever since but as my family has all very much dispersed around the globe, I would like to return to the UK..... I am currently in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal South Africa and need assistance to relocate to the UK.

Kind regards........... Uschi

Re: Returning to the UK

Hi, I've moved your post to your existing thread on the same subject.

Yes, the UK is England, Wales, Scotland and NI.

Your husband will require a spousal visa to live in the UK with you, you need to sponsor him and have a certain amount of earnings or savings to do so. If you start a new thread about just his visa in the visa sub section (https://britishexpats.com/forum/citi...-visas-uk-196/) then the good folks there will be able to help you with that side of things.

For info on old age facilities, do you mean nursing homes? Or things like social clubs etc? It will depend on whereabouts you're planning on moving to, do you have an area in mind yet?
