I wasn't mentioning Fort Mc............................I was talking about Alberta in general, and like you say Fort Mc is very far north, and I'm sure a lot colder than we are here. I just didn't want people to generalise about Alberta being colder than other provinces...................as its a BIG place and the temps can fluctuate north to south as they do in all the provinces. ;)
I have not lived anywhere else in the winter in Canada other than Edmonton so I cannot comment on 'relative' coldness within different parts of Canada but to me minus 30 is what I would call extremely cold !! It feels especially cold if you have any kind of delicacy in your physical make-up such as asthma or if you turn out to be allergic to it !! I kid you not.....I discovered I was allergic to the cold after standing out at bus-stops here in Edmonton at minus 20 and below. I would get home and be covered in red welts. No-one could figure it out until we found a medical book and read about it. Apparently it is recorded as a real allergy ! After that of course I started to find a lot more people with the same problem. It changed from a skin reaction to life-threatening asthmatic attacks which means I have an excuse not to go out clearing snow but also that I have to be careful going outside in the winter full-stop. So it is something to be aware of if you are not of highly robust disposition ! Squidlet. |
