Does anyone know if I will be able to rent a flat in the UK without a permanent job, if I am temping for an employment agency for example?

Yes, you will, though it won't be as easy as it would if you had a full-time job. You may need to pay an extra deposit, find a guarantor, or pay a slightly higher rent (to pay for the landlord's rent guarantee insurance), for example.
