Renewal of UK child passport countersign needs to be UK citizen?
We live in the US , we are applying for a renewal for our younger child's UK passport. It used to be that we could use someone of good standing as the countersign, (even though they were not UK citizens), but now it states that since the child is under 12 the countersigned needs to be a UK (or Commonwealth citizen). Is that correct?
We do not know anyone (who is not a family member) who is a UK citizen so can we just sign off on it like we did before with a USA teacher of State Trooper?

If not in the UK, for a renewal it needs to be done if the person no longer resembles their previous photo.
The person doing it does need to be someone of standing, such as you've listed and they do not need to be UK citizens and if they are not, they do not need to provide passport number.
