Remote cheque deposit available in the UK

The Cheque and Credit Clearing Company (which manages the cheque-clearing system) has announced that from 30 October 2017, there’ll be a new, image-based process. And from the second half of 2018, all UK banks will be using this process.

If you are a Barclays customer you can do it from the end of October.

This thread should be in the UK or US forum. Which would you like me to move it to?

I wasn't sure that's why I put it in the technology forum. Probably best to move it to the UK forum.

Some companies still issue cheques. Old people still use cheques. Small companies may still use cheques to avoid credit card fees. For some private transactions I may still use a cheque. School trips ect probably still use cheques, sending money in a birthday cards , probably still use a cheque.

Maybe birthday and Christmas cards are on their way out.

I found out today this is now available on my HSBC UK account through my phone app. :) Now I don't need to throw those small value cheques away.

I don't have it yet on my HSBC UK phone app

If I ever get a paper cheque then I'll worry about it.
