Re: The Real NHS
The health tourism issue is just a way to distract people from the real problems of under funding and serious public health issues. The ageing population and conditions like diabetes an alzheimers are things we should be concentrating on. Health tourism is such a small issue that it has nothing to do with inadequate care. Drops in funding, staffing and an ageing population are some of the real issues.
Think of the newspapers and those that want to move to a more privately funded system as Paul Daniels.....you know the cheesy magician. They are all "look over here" when they rant about health tourism as a distraction from the real trick, which is to reduce the size of the NHS and the access to free at point of service health care.

If there are those who wish for a paradigm shift (an abused and over used term to the point of meaningless I know) then it won't be done on the selected bits that are nice to change, whilst leaving out one or more issues that which we think doesn't suit our particular theory.
Yes perfectly thank you, do you

Good, it would be a pointless debate if you were frothing at the mouth simply because no one agreed with you.
But, if you were laughing at the word prevalent then I would point out that it seems topical and prevalent within this discussion 304 odd posts in.
Migration Watch UK has a very specific agenda to reduce immigration to the UK. It's hardly a neutral body. By placing that 1 1/2 million visa figure out there, they made a very deliberate attempt to place the idea in people's minds that NHS fraud by immigrants may be a widespread problem. All without actually having any numbers as to how widespread it is. It is simply intellectual dishonesty on their part.
Whilst not being for or against the MWUK itself, That argument is flawed as it is one for the government to prove and then dispute the findings of MW. I don't see that being done in the UK at this point in time.

Maybe I seem to think that from the wordng of my post (I couldn't be arsed to re-read my own tripe, TBH), but I don't.
Not being entitled to and not deserving are two different things. As someone who works in a job where I am constantly monitoring whether rules are followed (not my most favourite aspect of the job I must say), I'm also a real believer in common sense prevailing over rules.

Migration Watch haven't produced any evidence to back their assertions. There is nothing for anyone to dispute in what they said. All they have done is put the idea in people's minds that NHS fraud is widespread by positing that 1 1/2m people get visitor's visas.

Ok, then it seems like a curious example for Panorama to choose. A legitimate victim of human trafficking would likely be eligible for asylum anyway as would her child. You'd think that if "NHS tourism" were a widespread as some on here posit, they'd be able to come up with better examples than this one.

That would lead me to suspect that they might just have that which you suggest that they have not. If that part of your point fails then the rest of your point collapses like a burst balloon. what!

I'm laughing at your blind faith in the motivations of the British media.

I can neither agree or disagree, but they would be rather silly people to maintain a media campaign that would fall like a house of cards at the first challenge.

But feel free to laugh, it's good medicine and anything that eases the NHS burden is a bonus !!!
No, I am arguing that THEY would be pretty silly if they didn't, and where is it stated within the UK's Capitalist thus inherently corrupt and deliberately misleading (your view not mine ) media, that they have not "put their money where their mouth is" so to speak?
