Property tax
What is the UK equivalent to the US’ property tax? Is it also based on a percentage such as 1% or 2% of the property purchase value? How is the property tax (if any) in UK different to council tax?
Thanks! |

Thanks! There’s also stamp duty to be paid when you purchase a home (unless under the threshold), but that’s a one off fee. HTH. |
Re: Property tax
The amount one pays for property tax in some parts of the US (usually thousands of dollars, if not tens of thousands), cannot compare with what one pays for council tax in the UK.
My sister who has a 4 bedroom house in Norfolk is astounded by how much I pay in California for my 4 bedroom house. Sure, mine is large is square footage but nothing to make up for the huge difference in costs. |
