Lovely photos The Christmas Market photos, are they taken in Birmingham or Germany?

Re: Postcards from England
Hi Karim, I've just found your thread for the first time... thank-you, it's really lovely. Like others, I will use your photo's as inspiration for planning travels when I return.
Have you visited Kent yet? I think it's very pretty too. I would love to see some of your pictures if you get to places like Knole Park (Henry VIII's home & deer park) at Sevenoaks, Sissinghurst Castle (lovely gardens) and nearby Cranbrook (with a working smock mill... I think!). And if you should stumble upon a bluebell wood... please take some pictures there too!!
Oh, and if you're taking requests... some wildlife pix would be great...
Actually, I think all people planning to leave the UK should be made to sit down and look at your beautiful pictures before they leave. It would make life so much simpler... there would be far fewer expats!

Lovely to see you in my neck of the woods!
I was at Whitby Abbey this summer - what an amazing place it is.
Thanks for the photos

Thank you so much for your comments
For those like myself who love baking - I started baking at 7 years old - I highly recommend the following book which associates quintessentialy British desserts and savoury dishes recipes with their historical background and the most beautiful pictures of the places they originated from as picturesque and quaint as you would wish them to be
I bought it on sale at VH Smith last summer for £10.00 instead of £20.00 and I love it to bits and crumbles !
The Great British Book of Baking ( 352 pages )
Just like England itself, there is still so much that I have to discover of your traditions and why not starting with your yummy desserts !
Lardy Cake, Plum Cobbler, Westmoreland Tart, Welsh Bara Brith, Barm Brack, Pitcaithly Bannocks will soon have no secrets for me
By the way, I am currently at my house in South West of France, in the Poitou Charente area, so if there are any Expats there, I would love to meet you
Have a great Sunday !
