but now you need to have US passport to show it at the airport while leaving US.. do u have enough time to get the US passport? it might be issued within 1 day or 1 month, no idea about american red tape

You know I think he's right. One of the biggest issues for duel passport holders from the USA is traveling on their non US passport. I think the INS do not look favorably on this practice and should they ever find out might get a trifle problematic especially if you have not even got a us passport presently. Not trying to scaremonger but trying to help avoid pitfalls.

Thanks for all your concerns... I did check when I was getting my oath with the passport office, that there wouldn't be enough time to get my passport, and as long as I showed evidence of my citizenship certificate it would be fine, and then I would apply in the UK.

Hopefully that will be true....
