Nursing in the UK?
Hi all I am a Brit who trained as a nurse in the Us with an ADN I have been working mostly critical care and Emergency. I am now 8 weeks away from my BSN From Ohio University. I now manage a Emergency department and an Intensive Care Unit in a small Community Hospital. Any hopes for Me in the UK?

As you will be looking to find a job in the UK with a US nursing qualification, you might want to take a look at http://www.uk-yankee.com/ which is aimed primarily at US folks who wish to move to the UK.
There is a section for people looking for advice regarding work in the UK, how their qualifications translate, that kind of thing, here http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?board=10.0.
I found a specific post there which might be helpful for you.

Hi all,
I am working for a Trust in London which has a number for vacancies for specialist nurses and medical staff. We are not an agency but a direct employer. Website address is http://jobs.gstt.nhs.uk/select_sector
Please feel free to contact me direct with any questions.

You could also take a look here http://www.jobs.nhs.uk/
There seem to be quite a few vacancies in your areas of specialty.
If you see any jobs that appeal to you, you could inquire directly and get your answer straight from the horses mouth!
Best of luck.

I would also look up the Nursing Board and see about reciprocity. Mummy in the Foothills might know more as she is a nurse. Good luck. I was going to go for a BSN but ended up in different field(s)..

I have my UK and US nursing license, but as I have been home for so long will have to do the return to nursing course before I can work as one in UK again.
I got all my information from http://www.nmc-uk.org/ I even emailed and got a reply as I didn't slot into any category. Being a UK citizen already you should email too, you don't need to get a visa or any such thing, just get your license transferred or evaluated or something, they have strict rules about the number of hours you need to have spent in each area, so get the info as soon as possible so you can work on that part.

You'll be so sick over the pay disparity from the USA to UK for nursing, I think you would just quit. My mother-in-law makes over $100k as a nurse in Florida working 3 days a week 12 hr shifts. My grandmother and a friend was a nurse in the UK and basically made nothing. Not sure if its different now.
Here are the pay scales:
http://www.nhscareers.nhs.uk/explore...ay-for-nurses/
http://www.nhscareers.nhs.uk/working...nge-pay-rates/
Going by what you said you do, seems you might be a nurse team leader, the highest pay for that is 34,189 ($51,684.5).

Nursing jobs are one of the ones in high demand (http://www.visabureau.com/uk/shortag...ions-list.aspx). But when you look at the pay in the UK you can see why no one wants to be a nurse.
