Nottingham

Hi
My wife and I look like we have secured school places for our four children at Trinity in Aspley West Nottingham.
Looks like we should be able to secure furnished accomodation in the area. Does anyone have any suggestions for the specific area - we were considering The park, Mapperly Park and Eastwood.

Also we want to be 100% sure of things before we ship all our gear over - hence the furnished accomodation. We will still however need clothes. linen etc. Should we send this over airfreight or just take 6 suitcases and buy the rest?

I'm sure that they'll be people along who know the area. Looking at crime stats though (http://www.ukcrimestats.com/Police_F...amshire_Police) The park was near the bottom of the league table. Mapperly park did better :)

Thanks sparks - you often read about crime in Nottingham "Shottingham" I've heard it called at times. Has it improved of late? Can't possibly be as bad as Sydney - every night on the TV there is another shooting in South West Sydney.

Can't say I recall hearing too much on the news before we left. I will say that living in an area of 'nuisance' crimes - littering, vandalism, burglaries and car theft - is very draining and depressing.

Have you tried having a wander around the areas of Nottingham you're looking at on Google earth at all? Not a replacement for first hand experience, but might help give you a feel for an area :)
