We thought that....surfing...but on our last trip home we saw surfers in Scarborough (and it was one of the only wet, windy and cold days we'd had)...then in Llandudno (same trip) even jet skies and boats out that day....my dad had speedboats...we had 4 while I was growing up and we took the boats everywhere...lakes,sea....and that was while we lived in Manchester....the weather never bothered us....honestly great times....

Doesn't even have to be a summer's evening!

I am currently in London on one of my much-needed trying-to-recover-my-sanity-and-charge-the-old-batteries visits. Every night as I return from the opera/ballet/theatre/concert/night out with friends etc there are people still enjoying themselves in the pub gardens of Putney

Maybe not tonight though - it snowed overnight and the place looks like a winter wonderland. However, the sun is out in full force, so it may all be gone by tonight.

As for Young's Special........ nectar for the goddesses! :)

LOl...our first visit back was Winter and we expected everyone to hibernate...(well they do here in Perth..lol...what am I on about they hibernate all year round..lol) you know your informed by expats "bloody ell why do you want to back this time of year....it's freezing...everyone will be indoors trying to keep warm....etc...etc" we went back and it was 'buzzing" we felt like a couple of old dears...you know thinking of going to bed by 9.30pm....that's when people started to go out:ohmy:....quiz nights...etc...going on during the week at our locals (we have two lovely pubs were we lived)....and the weather....we had 4 weeks of lovely weather....honestly....dark nights...cold....fresh mornings...did not stop any of our family from enjoying themselves....our local which has a huge beer garden had the outside heaters on and it was just a lively as it is on a spring/summer day...bliss just cannot wait....

Apart from the very very odd day(and I can honestly say I can count on one hand in the past 10 years)we spend alot of time outside.Unless its continual rain, its no big deal is it?I have a waterproof thick coat,no problem!;)

Me too, as soon as the warmer weather hits, I am up and running all over the Sarf - cannot wait Devon, Cornwall, other bits of Somerset. I especially want to visit the Cotswolds again, I only got a glimpse on my move down here, but hey did God ever create a more perfect place than this area of outstanding natural beauty??

So true...I watched a programme on "Anglia" last night and although I have visited the area VERY fleetingly, really you don't really need to go abroad when there is so much on our own doorstep.

And that is something some of us (me!) don't appreciate until we move away to another country! If I could turn back the clock I would not have moved to Australia just to another part of the UK but hey ho..........
