Looking at the ingredients of Hersheys lately I notice that they've largely dropped the High Fructose Corn Syrup they were using and now use sugar and glucose syrup which is what Cadburys use. All may not be lost. Still some use of corn syrup in some products though...yuk!

Hershey's is made from the bodily waste of unwanted orphans. Whereas Cadbury's is made by God himself.

Everybody knows this.

I grew up in Brum too and learned to swim in the Cadbury factory swimming pool and our annual sports day was always held at their sports field. Our next door neighbour worked for them and would bring back bags of "chocolate waste" (broken bits) in green paper bags (probably not allowed these days under H&S standards, I dare say).

It's just another chip away at grand British institutions and another step towards global homogeneity.

When in the UK I had a "fun only" fund for dabbling in the stock market and tried to stick to what I knew (i.e. "ate" !). So, Cadbury shares were bought and did well. Sold all UK stocks before heading over here - simply for a less complicated financial life. Sad to get rid of the Cadbury ones.

Now, should I buy a few Kraft shares?

I heard on CNN that the buyout went through, for something like $19bil. I don't think Kraft will mess with it. I actually prefer Cadbury's to Hershy's myself.

Try real chocolate; Lindt, Milka, Ritter, merci, and other Swiss and German brands, and you'll wonder why anyone would eat American OR British and think it's chocolate. I swear eating a bar of Lindt leaves you half stoned.

I had a bar of dark chocolate a few weeks ago that had habanero peppers and pop rocks mixed in it.

It was interesting, and really good. I'll see if I can find it on the web...

Here it is. Click on where it says "Firecracker". Good stuff. I got it at Walmart.

I think we all need to send for "Care Packages" from the UK right away......before the Yank Influence starts to takeover.

Hooray it's official. No more Cadbury threads!

"Cadbury is to be taken over by the US food company Kraft after its board approved a new increased bid."
