My friend teaches at Joseph Swan High school in Low Fell, the water was gushing down the stair cases and filled up the lower corridors.

Hope nobody wants to paint a boat in the next few weeks - there might be a delay on the paint manufacture. The pictures around The Gate and central motorway were amazing. The Swan Pub in Heworth was 4 feet under water! |
Re: Newcastle
I'm back in the UK at the moment but luckily escaped the storms from yesterday, it was crazy. They had huge hailstones in Leicestershire and flooding in many places including the village of Penkridge in the Midlands where I grew up, one poor bloke got swept away to his death.
You might like to look at this article about it all: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-Midlands.html Apparently a Spainish plume is to blame! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...vel-chaos.html |
Re: Newcastle

Re: Newcastle
28 June 2012 - West Midlands - severe lightning storms and torrential thundery rain....at Ludlow, in Shropshire, a man driving his car became stuck in a dramatic flash flood from a nearby stream that turned into a raging torrent that appeared in a matter of minutes. He got out of the car but was washed away and drowned....a retired teacher from Ledbury in Herefordshire which was also badly affected by torrential thunderstorms and lightning damage.
THis has been the wettest June on record in many places. |

It did say on the news tonight that some trains were up and running between England and Scotland. Also it showed pictures of places that had flooded with hardly a drop of water in sight now. Very bizarre! Hope your husband has a stress free journey, there was one chap that had been on the train for 14 hours from London to Edinburgh.

Re: Newcastle
The local paper has a great video of the Tyne Bridge being struck, and other pictures too:
