Default Need some advice!!

Hi everyone, first time posting on the forums so please excuse my lack of knowledge. So I’ve just turned 18 and have been living in Spain for 15 years (came here when I was 3). I feel like I would get on better back in the uk due to the dior employment situation over here and I was just wondering how I would get on about going back there, could I just turn up on the councils door and ask for emergency accommodation (I have no family back home so I’m essentially homeless) Can I work when I get over there ASAP? What about benefits, NHS and NI? Has anyone else been through this at my age and how did you get on?

All you will need to start your life in the UK is a British passport.

You will need to apply for an NI number when you get back.

You will not get much attention from the local council as a homeless young person with no dependents, so you should plan on arranging accommodation for yourself - maybe Airbnb for a few days, and then a house/ flat share after that - shared housing is going to be a bit more informal than leasing a place on your own. Getting an address should be a priority as you will be asked for it when you sign up with a doctor, apply for a driving licence, etc.

NHS "coverage" is automatic for all legal residents of the UK, and if you come to the UK entering on your British passport, and planning to make your life in the UK, then you will be "resident" immediately. This is true even if a few weeks later you change your mind and decide that the UK isn't for you after all and leave again.

Hi there, it's a big step moving country whatever your age, but an exciting one, too! What part of the UK are you thinking of coming back to? Have you got any relatives in the UK that can put you up whilst you find your feet?? If not, and you're going to be near a major city/larger town, a good option for short-term affordable accommodation would be the YHA (www.yha.org.uk). Once you get get a job, renting a room in a shared house should be easy (www.spareroom.co.uk)
