Im gonna swear in a minute!!!!!!
I have been on the phone with a lovely lady at manchester airport in a dept called "skymaster".
She tells me that Continental DO fly animals but they have a heat embargo on in July so my dog couldnt fly with us anyway. If we got someone to send him at a later date (sept.. and send him cargo (unnacompanied) it would cost 600 quid (sorry i am using the "quid" terminology but i only have a dollar sign on my keyboard...lol) and they wouldn't send him on a connecting flight to nashville they would keep in overnight and charge us another 150 quid for the privalege. She rang the cargo people at US Airways to ask if THEY had a heat embargo and the guy was really unhelpful and rude (i could hear her on the other line) anyway she was mad so she took my number and sais she would ring me back. She rang me back after speaking to a very nice gentleman on the ticket side of things and he told her that as long as the flight had a heating hold and was a jet they would book my dog on too. So I am going to ring my hubby and see if we can get this nightmare sorted once and for all.
Ill let you know my progress
Thanks Lorna

Hello Northspoon

I'm hoping to take my dog over in July. I've contacted Airpets who have been very helpful. (Thing2 put their web site on his last post). They take care of EVERYTHING...for a price. £500!! However they said they use British Airways and they don't usually have a big problem in the summer months from Heathrow to Chicago, so I will be using them. I did think about arranging it myself but with everything else to get sorted out I just won't have the time and although it's a lot of money I need peace of mind to make sure doggins get there safely. Also my children are grown up and are not coming with me, but I do understand your children are the priority. I would also be travelling from Manchester if I had a choice, I much prefer it to Heathrow, but airpets is located a couple of miles from Heathrow so it makes sense. Hope you get it sorted out...me too!!

Maggie

Re: My dog

One place I think I would look is for international breeders. As they fly
puppies all the time and they might be able to give you some insight that
others may not.
Good luck
