Default moving to Stalybridge, east manchester - any advice?

Im just wondering if anyone could advise me what's Stalybridge like to live in. Ive seen a property I really like, its an ex council property on brushes road. I am aware that there are some new build houses on brushes road..

I am not from the area but I love the countryside view. Ive checked the crime rate and apparently the crime rate is higher than a few of those highest crime town like Levenshulme and gorton which doesnt seem right

Any advise or comment from anyone knows the area would be much appreciated

I don't know the area, but I'd advice you to be very selective as to the 'crime rate' statistics you view. It's not uncommon to see the incidence of crime reported, rather than the rate of crime expressed as a percentage of population.

For example, Area A recorded 120 crimes committed in 2013, Area B recorded 1,200. At first glance, Area B might look to be a place to avoid, while Area A looks relatively safe.

But when you delve deeper, you see that Area A has only 150 residents, while Area B has 100,000 residents. Area B suddenly looks the far better place to live!

Crude examples, but you get my drift. Try here Compare Tameside South, Greater Manchester Police - Police.uk for crime rates expressed as a percentage of population.

The only other tip I can give you is don't wear an LFC shirt anywhere in Manchester

Hi, I know the area (through my OH extended family) there are some nice parts to Stalybridge but I would not buy in the council areas and I (nor my OH) would live in Stalybridge. Good luck
