Default Moving from Northern California to UK

Planning to move to Liverpool/Chester area in UK in October and looking into shipping companies. Probably 20 ft container or less. Can anyone recommend a company?
Thank you!

My niece moved back from California (pre Covid) and the shipping costs were expensive so she sold all items except for personal items and bought new when she arrived in the UK as it worked out a cheaper option plus when she arrived back she was staying in a small rental and did not know what type of home she would buy. Good luck I am sure you will be offered some shopping suggestions

We did Northern California to UK but it was a while back 2013. We used a company called Rainier or something similar and the delivery in UK was by Euro UK
We pretty much got rid of everything. Brought a box of memory stuff for each kids, youngest toys. Husbands tools no furniture. Worst bit was we had to transport the whole lot to the warehouse in the Bay Area. Where they unpacked the trailer of boxes and played Tetris to pack it all into a crate of 7x8 feet or some such size.
The other option we had looked at was UPakWeShip

Thank you for responding. Currently going through sorting process! Been married for 40plus years and lived in the US for 30 so slightly overwhelmed. Not planning on taking much furniture and of course all the electrical things can go but have still got a lot of 'stuff'!

We've been going back and forth on this. We have some pieces of furniture we really, really like. I'm trying to whittle down our possessions, but a lot of our stuff is what makes home to us, so I'm thinking it's going to be worth the investment in shipping rather than disposing of things and having to re-purchase. Someone else said on here that the biggest cost is the actual container so getting rid of that one box of stuff is unlikely to make any cost saving really. So I'm going to lean into supporting the shipping industry, lol. A friend just moved from MA (NH border) to Scotland and paid $12k for shipping 3 bed house contents.

We moved in September 2021 from Tennessee to the Manchester area using Planes Global. The original quote was just under $10,000 but with a few add ons and real life weighing it ended up being just under $15,000. (We had them store stuff for an additional month before putting it on a ship too).

Planes was quite communicative on the front end but the communications became problematic after initial pickup with several delays, ship changes, port changes, etc. It took over two months to receive everything once our shipping got transferred to a port.

Planes uses local shipping companies on each end, they're affiliated with United van lines in the US and they used Britannia for the last leg here. Britannia (and interactions with United for pickup) were great.

Like you, we sold off a lot of furniture and most of the electronic stuff.

Hi blitzin
Did they pack for you? Just trying to work out whether we've got a 20ft container or not
