Default Moving back to the UK and finding a job

I am thinking of moving back and had submitted my resume to a few recruiting agencies. I never heard back so I am looking for some pointers. It might be worth my while to find a temporary position and hold off on a permanent job until I have a better feel for the lay of the land. My background is healthcare financial management, analytics and Business Intelligence (Sisense). Contemplating visiting London in the fall to meet with a few agencies - literally just walk through their doors to find someone to talk to in the hopes that a face to face discussion may yield more results. In this age of digital everything, am I going about this all wrong? I am in my mid 50's. I am also quite well paid in the US so not sure how it would equate in the UK. Any tips, suggestions, and what not to do quite welcome.

Our son waited until he had arrived back before applying for jobs as I’d heard it was difficult to secure a job while still in the USA. Once here he did his searches online and then went for face to face interviews. He had the safety cushion of living rent free with us while he found a job.

Sounds to me like you'd be dealing with specialist recruitment agencies rather than the more general ones you'd find on the High Street, therefore I'd recommend reaching out via LinkedIn after you've found the right ones to contact, or if they have contact details try and set a call up with someone over Skype or something similar. I'd certainly expect that your salary will be a lot lower (generally speaking). I recruit roles in the UK because I can get them at lower cost than the USA even after exchange rate fluctuations are considered. Probably not your level, but MI style roles, BPA's, PM's etc.

Thank you for the feedback. I'd be living rent free initially too . I guess an in person meeting is not a bad idea.
