On the passport declaration form it states: 'For dual nationals a full colour copy of any uncancelled non-British or British Overseas Territories Citizen passport relating to you'. I interpreted this as we would need to provide a US Passport copy since she is a dual national, even though we have not even got her one yet, but it seems that you don't think we would need to? I just don't want to send off her application and then get a jobsworth at the UK Passport office who kicks back our application because of this, extending our wait time even longer.

I have heard from a friend who has a family member who works in UK Immigration who has said that there is a lull in passport applications this time of year (post Summer) so I would likely get it back well before Christmas if the above were the case, which is beyond good news to me right now. Just wanted to share that information in case anyone is in a similar situation.
I am a bit confused, how can someone be required to show a passport that they don't have ?

As an aside, previously entered the UK with a child with a US passport but right to British passport presented no issue, and went and got UK passport the next day.

It didn't seem to cause a problem and I wasn't asked for it or about it. I received my new British passport back the week after I sent in my application.
I did think of your example which demonstrates the 'requirement' isn't exactly hard and fast.

My son's experience in the US was that if you don't send it they will write back asking you to send it. Then you have to write back explaining that the reason you didn't send it is because it doesn't exist!
Just one datapoint.

Had he previously provided one or told them on the application form that he held a US passport?

If they need something , they will ask. When I applied for my son's passport, I included my passport but forgot to include my birth certificate. They emailed me and asked me to send my birth certificate in. I still got his passport within 4 weeks of applying.

Keep this simple do not confuse the authorities.

Your daughter has no US passport therefore there is nothing to send in with the UK passport application regarding other passports.

If you send the UK application tomorrow in my experience it will be back with new passport in hand within 10 days maximum, use USPS Priority, UPS, FEdex whoever your preferred sender is, I advise not sending by normal mail.

I just did this for a friend who has not had a UK passport for 50 years - application was simple.

I recently got my infant daughter's UK passport before applying for her Canadian one, no problems. The UK one was received very quickly. Sent documents via DHL.
