Fortunately there is no furniture. Just photos, books, clothes, musical instruments, tons of CD's, memorabilia. I have a 200 CD changer that I hate to leave behind. Anyone know if that will work in the UK with an inverter?

If I hold a British passport and I am going back to the UK, is it ok to buy a one-way ticket?

yeah it'll work. I'd honestly suggest copying all those CDs to your computer, using say, windows media player, then uploading them all to say amazon music or google music for online streaming. You can upload 50,000 for free.
